With all the bank repos the past few months, I think banks are going to start taking lesser offers than they normally would to get rid of them. As soon as homebuyers catch on (not just the investors), I think this will turn around. Hopefully, anyway.

I really think this is an excellent idea. The tax credit did more to encourage homebuying than anything else since the recession/housing crisis. Combined with the low mortgage rates we've been seeing the past couple of weeks, I think this could be exactly what we need to encourage people to buy property, especially cheap property like foreclosures, which absolutely must be bought up in LV if the market has a prayer of rebounding anytime soon.

Actually, a lot of the reason new foreclosures are slowing down is because of homeowner assistance programs and counseling services designed to give people time to deal with their debt. Unfortunately, with the economy still sluggish, even this extra time often doesn't make a difference. Current home values are still way below the value of many mortgages, and people can't find a way out.

At the same time as new foreclosure have slowed down, there has been a huge increase in bank repossessions, as properties that have been in foreclosure limbo due to moratoriums and assistance programs are now finally being processed and fully foreclosed. So the drop in new foreclosures can be misleading, and we have yet to see how the situation will play out. One thing that's for sure is that the market won't begin to truly recover until people start buying up the foreclosure homes that are just sitting on the market or on bank registries.

My brother works in real estate and he hsa said the same thing, that a bad opinion from the agent can actually cause a deal to be killed as well as neighbouring homes to be sold at a lower price. More research should be done by the broker to get the figure right.

Hopefully as time goes by, Real Estate Market will go back again to its shape. Therefore, the target sales would be met by each real estate agency.

I think the so called shadow inventory is still growing out there. I expect foreclosures to continue to creep up as lenders try to motivate the borrowers to do something...loan mod...short sale etc:

Its amazing how many foreclosures are out there. There is such a huge problem with lending as well. Nobody can buy these forclosed homes because banks aren't lending. I think we are a long way off from this whole mess being cleaned up. Great article for looking at this foreclosure problem.
